Who are we?
We are simply a group of people on allotment waiting lists.
Our campaign started in September 2007. In a meeting where some of us were discussing local food and 'grow-your-own' we discovered that several of us were on long allotment waiting lists. We decided to write to our local council.
What appears on this website are the results of the research and practical action that we have taken since then.
Has our council increased provision yet? The council has allocated £40,000 over two years to appoint a part-time Allotment Development Officer. Part of his role is to look at possible new provision, and to facilitate the organisation of new privately managed sites.
We have established a formally constituted allotment society and our local council has agreed to lease us a piece of land. You can download our draft constitution here if you need a model to start with.
